Dr Andrew John Boocock is a Senior Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources at the Royal Docks School of Business and Law, University of East London. He holds a PhD from the Institute of Education, University of London, focusing on organisational behaviour in post-compulsory education. His expertise spans leadership studies, HRM in Further Education (FE), and the impact of education policy on organisational practices. Boocock’s research interrogates topics such as transactional vs. distributed leadership, marketisation in FE, and the effectiveness of local governance policies.
Education qualifications include a PGCE from UCL’s Institute of Education and a Distinction in Coventry University’s Certificate in Higher Education Professional Practice. He previously worked as a learning and development professional in an FE college, leading teacher training programs. At UEL, he leads modules on leadership, talent management, and organisational development within the MA in HRM.
His research interests critically examine neoliberal policies in education, particularly how austerity, localism, and human resource strategies affect FE institutions. Key publications address eco-leadership models, challenges of principal-agent solutions in FE governance, and the role of intrinsic motivation in staff engagement. Boocock is an active member of the CIPD and contributes to academic conferences, furthering debates on FE sector reforms.
