Andrew Iarocci is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Western University. His research focuses on twentieth-century warfare, military transportation, logistics, and the material culture of conflict. He holds a PhD from Wilfrid Laurier University (2005) and has held prestigious fellowships, including a Canadian War Museum Research Fellowship (2007-2010). Iarocci has authored and co-authored influential books like A Nation in Conflict: Canada and the Two World Wars (2015) and Shoestring Soldiers (2008), exploring Canadian military strategies, procurement, and technological innovation in global conflicts. His work emphasizes the transformative role of motor vehicles in World War I logistics and Canada's contributions to wartime material culture.
Key research projects include Chariots of Mars, a study of First World War military transportation under contract with the University of Toronto Press. His scholarship spans military vehicles, respirator production during WWII, and Arctic warfare technology at Fort Churchill. Iarocci has been recognized with teaching excellence awards and has contributed to public history through pamphlets like Canadians in the Ypres Salient.
