معرفی
Andrew H. Ramsook is an Assistant Professor at the University of Waterloo's Department of Physiology and Nutrition. His research focuses on integrative physiology of exercise, particularly respiratory system dynamics and oxygen transport in health and disease across ages. He investigates how respiratory mechanics, cardiovascular responses, and muscle physiology interact during exercise, with applications to conditions like cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, and post-COVID-19 sequelae.
Education includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, PhD and MSc from the University of British Columbia, and a BPHE from the University of Toronto. His expertise spans respiratory mechanics, cardiopulmonary interactions, and exercise-induced respiratory limitations. He actively supervises graduate students and offers research opportunities in his lab.
Key research themes include ventilatory constraints during exercise, respiratory muscle fatigue, and the role of oxygen transport in performance. His work often combines physiological measurements with clinical populations to understand dyspnea mechanisms and improve outcomes.
His publications highlight advancements in understanding airway luminal changes in chronic diseases, effects of respiratory interventions (e.g., oxygen therapy, masks), and sex-based physiological differences. Ongoing projects explore neural respiratory drive in lung disorders and mechanical ventilatory adaptations.
