معرفی
Tony Babb is a Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, specializing in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. He has held this position since 1992 and is actively involved in the UT-STARR program. His research focuses on exercise science, cardiopulmonary medicine, and the effects of obesity on respiratory health, particularly in children and adults. Dr. Babb's work addresses ventilatory limitations, dyspnea, and respiratory physiology during exercise.
Dr. Babb earned a B.S. in Biology from Western Kentucky University, an M.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from Pennsylvania State University. He completed postdoctoral training in physiology at Penn State and a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in thoracic diseases at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine.
His research interests include obesity-related respiratory challenges, ventilatory responses to exercise, and the physiological mechanisms underlying dyspnea. He has published extensively on these topics, with studies appearing in journals like Journal of Applied Physiology and Chest.
Dr. Babb has received notable awards, including the 2023 Citation Award from the American College of Sports Medicine and the 2026 Honor Award from its Texas chapter. He is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Thoracic Society. As a Principal Investigator, he oversees grants from organizations like NIH, Dr. Pepper/Snapple, and Lithera, Inc.
His professional affiliations include leadership roles in the American Physiological Society and the Dyspnea Society. Dr. Babb’s work bridges clinical practice and research, aiming to improve respiratory health through advanced physiological insights.
