Yannick Molgat-Seon, PhD, is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management at the University of Manitoba and holds an academic position in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Health at the University of Winnipeg. He is also an Associate Member of the Centre for Heart Lung Innovation at St. Paul’s Hospital, University of British Columbia. His research focuses on respiratory physiology, particularly the impact of respiratory factors on exercise performance in healthy individuals and those with chronic respiratory diseases. Dr. Molgat-Seon employs integrative approaches involving in vivo assessments of respiratory, cardiovascular, and muscular function during exercise. His work emphasizes sex differences in respiratory system morphology and aging effects on physiological responses to exercise. His research is funded by grants from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, Canada Foundation for Innovation, and others. He teaches courses such as KIN 3106 and KIN 4106 on exercise physiology.
Education: Postdoctoral Fellowship (Medicine, University of British Columbia), PhD (Kinesiology, UBC), MSc and BSc (Kinesiology, University of Ottawa).
Research Interests: Respiratory physiology, exercise performance in chronic disease, aging effects, and sex-based physiological differences. His publications explore topics like dysanapsis, expiratory flow limitation, and the impact of face masks on exercise physiology.
Advising and Grants: Dr. Molgat-Seon encourages student contact for research opportunities. His grants support investigations into cardiopulmonary exercise testing and respiratory mechanics in health and disease. Collaborative projects include work with interstitial lung disease patients and healthy aging studies.
