Jose Alberto Neder Serafini

Jose Alberto Neder Serafini is a Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Queen's University in the Department of Medicine, School of Medicine. He holds cross-appointments in the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences and is a member of the Translational Institute of Medicine and Centre for Neuroscience Studies. His research focuses on integrative cardio-respiratory physiology, clinical exercise physiology, and pathologies like COPD, chronic heart failure, and pulmonary hypertension. He established the Laboratory of Clinical Exercise Physiology (LACEP), funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), and directs the Pulmonary Function Laboratory at Hotel Dieu Hospital.

Key areas include pulmonary hypertension, COPD, and cardiopulmonary exercise testing. His work aims to develop interventions improving patient quality of life. He has authored over 130 peer-reviewed papers and a seminal textbook on clinical exercise physiology.

Grants & Labs: LACEP focuses on translational research in exercise physiology. His work has been funded by peer-reviewed grants, and he leads studies on topics like ventilatory inefficiency in COPD and fibrotic interstitial lung disease.
