Andrew Gott is a Lecturer in the Department of Music at Washington University, where he teaches bassoon. He holds a Bachelor of Music from Ball State University and a Master of Music from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. Prior to his current role, he served as Assistant Principal Bassoon of the St. Louis Symphony (since 2006) and held principal positions in the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, and Woodlands Symphony Orchestra.
His professional experience includes performances with renowned ensembles such as the Tanglewood Music Center, National Repertory Orchestra, and Jerusalem International Symphony Orchestra. He is an active chamber musician, collaborating in festivals like the Innsbrook Institute Music Festival and Norfolk Chamber Consort. Gott has also taught at the Governor’s School for the Arts, Old Dominion University, Christopher Newport University, and the Ball State Bassoon Camp.
He has participated in prestigious music festivals globally, including Aspen, Sarasota, Domain Forget, Kent Blossom, and the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. Born and raised in Bolivar, Missouri, Gott’s career bridges academic teaching, orchestral performance, and chamber music leadership.
