معرفی
Dr. Andrew Gilmore is a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Cancer Sciences at the University of Manchester. He holds a BA (Honours) in Zoology from Oxford University (1989) and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Leicester (1993). His career includes postdoctoral fellowships at the University of North Carolina and the University of Manchester, followed by a Wellcome Trust Research Fellowship (2000–present).
His research focuses on the regulation of cell survival via cell-extracellular matrix (ECM) adhesion, particularly the role of Bcl-2 family proteins like Bax in apoptosis. Current projects explore adhesion-mediated signaling pathways, Bax conformational changes, and molecular interactions driving cell fate decisions. He contributes to breast cancer research through projects like 'Developing Targeted Strategies for Precision Breast Cancer Prevention' and serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of Breast Cancer Now.
He has supervised 16 students and collaborates with teams in the Manchester Cancer Research Centre and the Manchester Cancer Research Centre. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals addressing health and well-being.
