Dr. Andrew Fogg is a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Chester, serving as Deputy Program Lead for the SIPPE apprenticeships. He holds a D.Phil. from the University of Oxford and a PGDE from Liverpool John Moores University. His research focuses on inorganic materials chemistry with environmental applications, particularly converting waste from green processes into commercial products like energy storage materials and construction products. He employs advanced techniques such as X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy. Fogg also leads STEM outreach initiatives including workshops on fuel cells, spectroscopy, and A-level revision courses.
- Academic Appointments: Senior Lecturer (2016–present), Royal Society University Research Fellow (2004–2014)
- Education: M.Chem. (Oxford, 1991–1995), D.Phil. (Oxford, 1995–1998), PGDE (Liverpool John Moores, 2014–2015)
His research emphasizes sustainable solutions through material innovation, funded by grants such as the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council's 'Chemical Control of Molecular Recognition in Anion Exchange Materials' (2006–2009). He is affiliated with the Sustainability and Environment Research and Knowledge Exchange Institute.
