Andrew D. Hottle is a Professor of Communication Studies and Art History at Rowan University's Ric Edelman College of Communication & Creative Arts. He holds a Ph.D. from Temple University and specializes in feminist art history with a focus on 20th-century women artists, particularly from the 1970s. His research explores themes of gender representation, collaborative art practices, and the historiography of marginalized artists.
Recent projects include a monograph on feminist painter Sylvia Sleigh and a study of the SOHO 20 Gallery, a pioneering feminist art space in NYC. He teaches courses in modern art, photography history, and communication studies. His publications analyze artworks by figures like Cynthia Mailman and Elsa Goldsmith, alongside critical reviews of scholarly works on trauma and socio-political art.
Dr. Hottle’s work bridges art history and cultural studies, emphasizing underrepresented narratives in visual arts. Current research focuses on documenting overlooked feminist art movements and their impact on contemporary artistic discourse.
