Dr Andrew Cusack is a Senior Lecturer in German at the University of St Andrews, affiliated with the School of Modern Languages. He holds a PhD from Trinity College Dublin (2007) and previously held a postdoctoral fellowship at Humboldt Universität in Berlin. A Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, his research focuses on literary anthropology, cultural mediators in 19th-century Germany, Vormärz literature, and German Gothic traditions. His recent work includes editing Deutsch-britischer Kulturtransfer im Vormärz (2024), analyzing German-British cultural exchanges. He actively supervises PhD students in these areas and has received the PEGS Prize 2022. His research spans encyclopedia entries on Theodor Fontane and peer-reviewed contributions to journals like Monatshefte and Zeitschrift für Germanistik.
