Professor Andrew Biswell is a Professor of Modern Literature at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), specializing in creative writing, 20th-century literature, and Anthony Burgess studies. He has been part of MMU since 2003 and is currently on a part-time secondment to the International Anthony Burgess Foundation, where he serves as Director. His research focuses on utopian/dystopian fiction, literary biography, and British literature of the 1930s, with notable works including The Real Life of Anthony Burgess and critical editions of Burgess’s A Clockwork Orange.

- Administrative Roles: External examiner at the University of East Anglia, Glasgow University, Cambridge University, and the University of York.
His research interests span literary biography, dystopian narratives, and the intersection of literature with media. He has been awarded the Portico Prize for The Real Life of Anthony Burgess and is a frequent contributor to media outlets like the BBC, Guardian, and Times Literary Supplement.
Professor Biswell supervises PhD students in creative non-fiction, modern literature, and Burgess studies. His recent projects include a scholarly edition of Burgess’s works and a monograph on W.H. Auden and Christopher Isherwood.
