Professor Rossi's research centers on Latin and Greek epic poetry and Roman historiography through rigorous literary genre analysis. She investigates how genre frameworks shape textual interpretation, particularly regarding Roman epic's complex relationship with political power. Her scholarship includes the monograph Contexts of War, Manipulation of Genre in Virgilian Battle Narrative (2004) and the edited volume Ennius and the Invention of Roman Epic (2006), with current projects focusing on commentaries for Virgil's Aeneid Book 10 and Livy's Ab Urbe Condita Book 30.
Recent publications (2015-2017) demonstrate sustained engagement with Roman epic figures and narrative structures, contributing significantly to reference works like Virgil's Encyclopedia while advancing critical discourse in classical philology and historical interpretation.
Professor Rossi actively mentors undergraduate students through senior honors theses and independent research projects while teaching comprehensive Latin language courses from elementary to advanced levels, Roman literature surveys, and specialized topics including The Rome of Augustus and From Aristophanes to South Park.
