Prof. Andreas Mäder is a Professor of Flute at the University of the Arts Bremen since April 2025, following a teaching contract since 2014. He also served as a guest professor at Kangnam University (Korea) and conducted courses internationally. His performance career includes roles as a solo flutist with the Jeunesses musicales World Orchestra and membership in Pierre Boulez's Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra. Since 2008, he has been deputy solo flutist with the Staatsorchester Oldenburg and frequently guest-performs in German orchestras.
Education: Studied flute at the Universität der Künste Berlin, Sibelius-Akademie Helsinki, Folkwang-Hochschule Essen (concert exam), and pursued historical performance (Alte Musik) at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen. Supported by the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and Kunststiftung NRW during studies.
Teaching focuses on orchestral repertoire, flute methodology, and didactics. Recent student masterclasses include concerts by Suyeon Joo (July 2025) and Pei-Chen Chao (June 2025). His classes host regular studio concerts, such as the May 2025 event featuring his students.
Grants and collaborations include stipends from major cultural foundations. His work bridges academic teaching with active orchestral performance, emphasizing both traditional and contemporary flute repertoire.
