Andreas Munzel is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Vlerick Business School. He specializes in digital marketing, online social interactions, and deceptive communication, with a focus on AI applications, big data analytics, and customer relationship management. His research explores fake reviews, fake news, social capital, and well-being in digital environments.
Education includes a Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches from Toulouse Capitole University (France), a PhD in Marketing from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (Germany), and dual Master's degrees in Business Research and Management. He has held academic roles at institutions like Toulouse School of Management, Montpellier Management, and EM Strasbourg Business School, alongside visiting positions at LMU Munich, University of Pavia, and Copenhagen Business School.
Teaching responsibilities include leading Vlerick's Digital Marketing program for executives and courses on data-driven marketing. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Service Management and Journal of Business Research. His professional experience extends to management training with Unilever and Horvath & Partners.
Research interests span three core areas: online reviews/deceptive practices, social media's impact on well-being, and AI/big data applications in marketing (e.g., chatbots, autonomous cars, data privacy). He emphasizes integrating digital and analogue approaches in marketing strategy.
