Professor Andreas Brunschweiger serves as Chair of Pharmaceutical Chemistry within the Institute of Pharmacy and Food Chemistry at the University of Würzburg's Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy. His research group operates from Hubland Campus (Room 01.004) with administrative support from Jana Müller.
His primary research focuses on DNA-encoded libraries (DEL) for drug discovery, where he pioneers chemically stabilized DNA systems and nanoheterogeneous platforms. Additional expertise spans macrocyclic compound development, data science applications in chemical reaction spaces, and lipid nanoparticle engineering for mRNA vaccine delivery systems. His team actively develops TEAD-YAP protein-protein interaction inhibitors and novel biodegradable compounds including chemically modified lipids and PEGylated lipid substitutes.
- DEL Technologies: Screening complex compound mixtures via DNA sequencing for target protein binders
- Lipid Research: Designing stable, biodegradable lipid nanoparticles for tissue-specific drug delivery
- Data Science: Statistical analysis of DEL selections and reaction space modeling
Professor Brunschweiger maintains active research collaborations in translational pharmaceutical sciences with emphasis on sustainable drug discovery methodologies. His laboratory infrastructure supports nucleic acid-based therapeutic development and compound validation assays.
