Andrea Vortkamp

Prof. Dr. Andrea Vortkamp leads the Developmental Biology group at University of Duisburg-Essen's Center for Medical Biotechnology. Research focuses on skeletal development and degenerative bone diseases.

Investigates signaling pathways regulating chondrocyte differentiation, heparan sulfate functions in development, and molecular basis of osteoarthritis. Recent work examines epigenetic control of chondrocyte states and vascular systems in bones.
