Andrea Javel is a Distinguished Senior Lecturer of French at Boston College's Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Romance Languages and Literatures. She holds a B.A. from the University of Dayton, an M.A. from Université René Descartes, and an M.Ed. from Harvard University.
Her research focuses on French language pedagogy, second language acquisition, and innovative teaching methodologies. Notable areas include cultural immersion through media, foreign language anxiety mitigation, and integrating Francophone literature into language instruction. She has developed curricula incorporating historical fiction, cinema, and study abroad experiences.
Javel has presented widely on topics like Caribbean Francophone culture, social justice in language education, and Maghreb cultural studies. Her publications include academic translations and textbook testing programs. She received the 2006 TWIN Award for integrating technology in language courses.
