Dr Andrea Carnaghi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Psychology at the University of Trieste, Italy. He collaborates with Professor Peter Hegarty at the School of Psychology, University of Surrey, focusing on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of social cognition, language, neuroscience, and intergroup dynamics.
His research explores:
- How language shapes cognitive processes and social perception
- Neurophysiological correlates of empathy, particularly in contexts of sexual objectification
- The impact of social categorization and stereotypes on self- and other-perception
- Strategies for stereotype revision
Dr Carnaghi has been recognized for his scholarly contributions, including receipt of the Gordon Allport Prize. His work bridges theoretical and applied perspectives in social psychology.
