Anne Maass is Professor of Psychology and Global Network Professor at New York University's Faculty of Arts and Science, with a primary affiliation at NYU Abu Dhabi. Her academic work bridges social psychology, language, and societal inequality.
Her research focuses on language and social cognition, gender stereotypes and stereotype threat, and the psychology of economic inequality. She explores how stereotypes are formed, transmitted, and internalized, and how economic disparities affect cognitive and social functioning, particularly among lower socioeconomic groups.
She has held editorial leadership roles as Associate Editor of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and Chief Editor of the European Journal of Social Psychology. Her research is conducted through the Social Attitudes and Neurolinguistic Dynamics (SAND) Lab, where interdisciplinary inquiry into social attitudes is fostered.
Anne Maass has received significant recognition, including:

- Henri Tajfel Award (2011)
- Membership in the German National Academy of Sciences (Leopoldina)
She has taught extensively at NYU Abu Dhabi, offering courses such as Stereotyping, Lab in Psychology of Economic Inequality, and supervising senior capstone projects in psychology. She has also been affiliated with the University of Padua and has conducted research and teaching visits at institutions including UC Davis, the New School, and Nagoya University.
