Andrea C. Gore

Andrea C. Gore is a Professor of Pharmacology & Toxicology and Vacek Chair in Pharmacology at The University of Texas at Austin, conducting active research in the Biomedical Engineering building (BME 3.510B).

Her work centers on the neuroendocrine control of reproduction, specifically investigating how prenatal exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) induces molecular and cellular changes in the developing hypothalamus and other brain regions. Using rat models, her laboratory examines transgenerational behavioral effects through epigenetic modifications of the germline and gametes. Additional research explores brain aging, menopause, and estrogenic effects on neural properties.

Dr. Gore employs multidisciplinary methodologies including behavioral assays, physiological measurements, neuroanatomical analysis, immunohistochemistry (light/electron microscopy), gene expression profiling, transcriptomics, epigenetic mapping, DNA methylation studies, RNAscope, and hormone assays. Her findings address critical environmental health impacts on neurodevelopment and reproductive behavior.
