Kayla M. Booth is an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the School of Information, The University of Texas at Austin. She leads the iSchool Inclusion Institute (i3), a nationally recognized program supporting underrepresented students in information sciences. Her research focuses on youth-oriented interventions addressing health, education, and social media literacy through community-led approaches. Previously, she held a Research Assistant Professor position at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Computing and Information.
Education: Implied PhD in Information Sciences (via 'Dr.' title). Research emphasizes intersections of class/race/gender in youth assessment of health information online. Teaching includes courses on informatics research methods and career development in digital organizations.
Grants: Funded by Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and Institute of Museum and Library Services. Awards include 2020 Provost’s Award for Diversity in Curriculum. Collaborative work spans curriculum design, app development, and policy evaluation for marginalized youth.
