Andrea Benediktsdottir is a visiting researcher in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Uppsala University, Sweden, focusing on drug design and discovery. She has been a PhD student since November 2017 in the Drug Design and Discovery group under the supervision of Anja Sandström. Her research primarily targets antibacterial agents through the development of novel inhibitors.
Research Interests: Her work encompasses peptidomimetics design, protease inhibition (particularly type I signal peptidase), and synthetic chemistry of sulfonimidamides and macrocyclic lipopeptides. She explores structural modifications to enhance antibacterial efficacy and specificity against Gram-negative bacteria.
Publication Trends: Recent articles highlight her contributions to sulfonimidamide-based pseudopeptides, LpxH inhibition, and detergent/lipid composition optimization for membrane protein studies. Her research integrates medicinal chemistry with structural biology approaches.
