Andrea Alessandri

Dr. Andrea Alessandri is a Senior Researcher ("Primo Ricercatore") at the Institute of Atmospheric Science and Climate (ISAC) within Italy's National Research Council (CNR). He co-leads the Earth and Climate Spoke of the National Research Centre for High Performance Computing, Big Data, and Quantum Computing (ICSC), and serves as Principal Investigator for the EU Horizon Europe project OptimESM (2023-2027). His career spans roles at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI), European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), and Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA), with a focus on Earth system modeling and climate prediction.

International Roles: Chair of the Land and Vegetation Working Group in the EC-Earth consortium, member of the EC-Earth Task Team for CMIP7, convener of EGU General Assembly sessions on climate prediction, and member of the Group on Earth Observations Climate Change Working Group (GEO CC-WG).
