Anders Wappling is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Newcastle Business School, part of Northumbria University's Faculty of Business and Law. He serves as Faculty Lead for Study Abroad. Previously, he worked at Newcastle University Business School before joining Northumbria. Wappling holds a PhD in Marketing from Ulster University (2012) and a Ph.Lic. in Marketing from Umeå University. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2013).
His research focuses on consumer decision-making processes, particularly in food choice contexts and cross-cultural technology adoption. Methodologically, he emphasizes quantitative approaches while maintaining qualitative research expertise. Key themes include intercultural studies, service recovery dynamics, and internal marketing within public sector organizations.
Recent publications explore cultural influences on mobile payment adoption (2025), questionnaire design flaws in corporate identity studies (2020), and post-financial crisis internal demarketing in UK civil service (2019).
