Anders Olofsgård is an Associate Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics and an Affiliated Professor at Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service and McDonough School of Business. He currently serves as a part-time researcher at Södertörn University's Department of Social Sciences, where he is Principal Investigator for a 5-year project titled "(Re)Constructing Ukraine – People, Institutions and Environment," funded by The Foundation for Baltic and Eastern European Studies in collaboration with the Kyiv School of Economics. Additionally, he holds the position of Deputy Director at the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE).
Dr. Olofsgård's research focuses on political economy and development, with particular expertise in Eastern European affairs, especially Ukraine. His scholarly work spans economics, political science, and development studies, with publications in prestigious journals including the Journal of the European Economic Association, Economic Journal, Journal of Public Economics, American Political Science Review, Quarterly Journal of Political Science, and World Development. His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on institutional resilience in post-Soviet Ukraine, foreign aid effectiveness in conflict zones, EU integration in Eastern Partnership countries, and the political economy of sanctions against Russia.

As a regular commentator in Swedish media, Dr. Olofsgård provides expert analysis on the political economy of Eastern Europe, particularly regarding Ukraine, and foreign aid policy. His professional experience extends beyond academia, having served as a visiting scholar and consultant for major international institutions including the IMF, World Bank, USAID, and the Swedish government. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from the Institute for International Economic Studies at Stockholm University in 2001, establishing a strong foundation for his subsequent career in transition economics and development studies.
