Anca Gheaus

Anca Gheaus is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and a Political Theory Track Representative in the Doctoral School of Political Science, Public Policy, and International Relations at the Central European University (CEU) in Vienna. She holds a PhD in Philosophy from CEU (2005). Her research focuses on justice, the normative significance of personal relationships, childrearing, gender justice, surrogacy ethics, and the philosophy of childhood.

Key publications include Debating Surrogacy (Oxford University Press, 2023) and The Routledge Handbook of the Philosophy of Childhood and Children. Current projects include a monograph on child-centred childrearing (Oxford University Press) and a forthcoming book, The Ethics of Childhood. Her work bridges political philosophy, ethics, and public policy, addressing issues such as parental responsibility, gender equality, and children's rights.

Recent research explores topics like childhood flourishing post-pandemic, generational justice, and the ethics of family structures. She frequently participates in academic events, including the 2025 Roundtable on Migration in Political Theory and discussions on feminist political philosophy.
