Dr. Anas Iqtait is a Senior Lecturer in the Economics & Political Economy of the Middle East at the ANU Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies. He holds a PhD from ANU and has held roles as co-founder/Chief Editor of the Near East Policy Forum and non-resident scholar at the Middle East Institute (USA).
His research focuses on geoeconomics, fiscal governance, and financial technologies in the Middle East. He has published extensively on Palestinian state-building, regional aid dynamics, and conflict economies. His monograph Funding and the Quest for Sovereignty in Palestine (2023) analyzes Palestinian fiscal systems.
Dr. Iqtait has advised on Middle Eastern investment portfolios and worked with UN OCHA and KOICA. He frequently contributes to media outlets like BBC, Al Jazeera, and Foreign Policy.
