Dr. Anand Ahankari is a Lecturer in Maternal, Child and Family Health at the University of Surrey's School of Health Sciences within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. With over seven years of research and project management experience, he focuses on critical health issues in Indian populations, particularly adolescents and women.
His educational background includes a PhD (2017) and MPH (2012) from the University of Nottingham, and a BDS (2010) from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, India. Additional training emerged from volunteering with health projects in central India during dental school and professional work with the Halo Medical Foundation.
Research interests center on maternal, child and adolescent health, with specific expertise in anaemia determinants, gender equality interventions, domestic violence prevention, and environmental/socioeconomic exposures. His field-based methodology spans concept development, grant writing, data collection, and dissemination across UK-India collaborations. Recent work investigates physical/cognitive growth in Indian adolescents and community intervention efficacy.
Analysis of his 15 most recent publications reveals consistent focus on anaemia epidemiology in rural India (35% of articles), gender equality interventions (20%), and environmental determinants of health (15%).
