Anand Ahankari

Dr Anand Ahankari is a Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology and Public Health at Manchester Metropolitan University. He holds honorary roles with NNEdPro Global Centre, Kasturba Medical College (India), and previously with the University of Oxford and Hull. His career spans 14 years in research and project management, focusing on maternal, child, and adolescent health in India and the UK. Anand has secured over £800K in research grants and led capacity-building initiatives in low- and middle-income countries.

Education: BDS (2010), MPH (University of Nottingham, 2012), PhD in Epidemiology (Nottingham, 2017). Career path includes roles at the University of Hull (2018–2020) and Surrey (2020–2024) before joining Manchester Metropolitan in 2024.

Research interests include anaemia prevention, gender equality interventions, and UK-India collaborative projects. He has published widely on public health topics such as tobacco use, water sanitation, and preconception care. Recent work emphasizes digital health technologies and systemic inflammation’s role in anaemia.
