Dr. Anamaria Oprea is a Lecturer in Social Work at De Montfort University, UK, within the School of Applied Social Sciences, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. She holds a PhD in Sociology and is actively engaged in teaching and research in social work, restorative justice, and criminal justice.

Her research focuses on restorative justice practices, probation systems, prisoner rehabilitation, and community sanctions, with a strong emphasis on Romania’s criminal justice reforms. She explores themes such as moral development, prisonization, and the social construction of risk. Her work bridges academic theory and practical application in social work and justice systems.
Her recent publications reflect a consistent trend in restorative and community-based justice, examining policy implementation, institutional development, and human rights perspectives. She frequently contributes to discussions on youth justice, domestic violence, and health promotion in correctional settings.
