Ana M. Martínez-Alemán is a Professor of Education and Associate Dean for Faculty & Academic Affairs at Boston College’s Lynch School of Education and Human Development. She holds the Golden Eagle Foundation Faculty Research Fellow title and has been a leader in higher education policy since 1998.
- Education: Ed.D. in Higher Education (University of Massachusetts Amherst), M.A. and B.A. (SUNY Binghamton)
Her research focuses on intersections of race, gender, and technology in higher education. Notable areas include campus sexual violence activism, social media’s impact on student politics, and racialized aggression online. She has authored seven books including groundbreaking works on social media culture and student activism.
Her recent articles analyze how racism manifests digitally, competition dynamics in research universities, and global education geographies. Over 100 talks and editorships at journals like Educational Policy amplify her influence.

Leadership roles include serving as 2023 President of the Association for the Study of Higher Education and 2016 Vice President of AERA’s Postsecondary Education Division. Grants include Fulbright Senior Specialist and National Academy of Education Spencer Fellowships.
