Ana Catarina Pinho is an active researcher and lecturer specializing in visual culture, documentary practices, and archival theory. As founder and creative director of ARCHIVO, she leads interdisciplinary projects examining photography's role in historical narrative construction.
Her research critically investigates photography's discursive formations and the politics of visuality, particularly regarding collective memory production. This work bridges visual anthropology, critical historiography, and media studies, emphasizing how visual archives shape societal understandings of the past.
Pinho actively engages academic communities through events like the July/August 2025 "Fotografie und Bewegung" research colloquium at the German Documentation Center for Art History (Bildarchiv Foto Marburg), designed for doctoral candidates and post-doctoral researchers in visual studies.
