Amy Von Lintel is a Professor of Art History at West Texas A&M University in the Department of Art, Theatre and Dance within the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities. She also serves as the Director of the Gender Studies Certificate Program and is a faculty and advisory board member of the Center for the Study of the American West (CSAW). Previously, she served on the Board of Trustees of the Amarillo Museum of Art.
Dr. Von Lintel's educational background includes a BA in Art History, French, and European Studies from the University of Kansas (2001, summa cum laude), an MA in Art History from Southern Methodist University (2003), and a PhD in Art History from the University of Southern California (2010).
Her research focuses on modern and contemporary art of the Texas Panhandle region, with particular emphasis on Georgia O'Keeffe, Abstract Expressionism, and women artists of the American West. She has expanded her research from earlier work on popular contexts of art history to the specific art of the Texas Panhandle. Her scholarly approach integrates gender studies with regional art history, examining how women artists have shaped the American West's artistic landscape.
Dr. Von Lintel's recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on regional art history with national significance. Her work shows increasing specialization in Texas Panhandle art, Georgia O'Keeffe studies, and women's contributions to Abstract Expressionism, with several publications appearing in the 2020-2025 timeframe indicating active, ongoing research.
