Amy Rogers Dean is a Lecturer in the Department of History at Sam Houston State University (SHSU). She holds a Ph.D. in History from Purdue University (2014), with a focus on Early Modern Europe and European/Women’s History. Her research examines noble women’s roles in family economic management and power dynamics in early modern France, particularly in Burgundy. Dean taught at Lone Star College-University Park, Huntsville High School, and Purdue University before joining SHSU in 2014.
- Education: B.A. (1998) Texas Christian University; M.A. (2003) and Ph.D. (2014) from Purdue University.
- Teaches U.S., World, and European History courses including Religion in World History, British History to 1714, and European History from 1648–1914.
- Member of Phi Beta Kappa and the American Historical Association; serves on the Walker County Historical Commission.
Her research emphasizes women’s agency in managing estates and family economies, with archival work in France’s Archives Départementales de la Côte d’Or and Bibliothèque Municipale de Dijon.
