Severin Plate

Severin Plate serves as a Research Associate at the Department of Modern History, University of Bonn, under Prof. Dr. Christine Krüger since 2021. He is completing his dissertation within the DFG-funded project "Resilience and Vulnerability. European Noble Families in Times of Revolutionary Upheaval 1760-1830".

His academic training includes:

• Master of Arts in History, University of Münster (2018-2021)

Plate specializes in European nobility during revolutionary transitions, examining kinship resilience strategies of Danish noble networks (Reventlow, Bernstorff, Schimmelmann, Stolberg) amid Napoleonic-era crises. His interdisciplinary approach merges historical sociology with family resilience theory to analyze how aristocratic structures adapted to political upheavals.

His sole publication on Freikorps members' documentation of Münster's 1918/19 revolution reflects his focus on revolutionary chronicling and archival practices. Current research trends emphasize nobility's role in semi-peripheral European states during systemic collapse.

As part of Prof. Krüger's team, Plate contributes to the DFG project's analysis of noble adaptation strategies. He has not yet supervised students or secured independent grants but leverages institutional DFG resources for his dissertation on Danish Commonwealth nobility.
