Claudia Rapberger is a researcher and doctoral candidate in History at the University of Vienna’s Department of Economic and Social History. She serves as Praedoc Assistent for the FWF-funded project „Noble Siblings“ led by Prof. Margareth Lanzinger. Her research focuses on ego-documents, women’s and gender history, kinship dynamics, and the social history of the Austrian nobility.
Education
- PhD candidate in History (since 2020)

Research Interests
Rapberger’s work examines the intersections of family structures, gender roles, and socio-economic status in early modern and modern Austria. She analyzes handwritten correspondence (ego-documents) to trace the lived experiences of noble siblings and unprivileged groups, emphasizing marginalized voices in historical narratives.
Publications
Her recent work explores noble sibling networks, debt practices in family contexts, and the socio-legal challenges faced by illegitimate children. She contributes to public history through articles in local and academic journals, bridging archival research with community engagement.
Advising & Grants
Supervised by Prof. Lanzinger, Rapberger’s doctoral project investigates how noble siblings negotiated wealth and social configurations in early modern Austria. She has participated in funded research initiatives like the „Noble Siblings“ project and presented at international conferences.
