Amy Reed is an Associate Professor in the Department of Writing Arts at Rowan University, affiliated with the Ric Edelman College of Communication & Creative Arts. She holds a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Writing from Virginia Tech, focusing on medical rhetoric. Her research addresses stigma in medical communication, particularly regarding Down syndrome in prenatal testing and addiction in substance use disorder contexts. She teaches courses like Medical Writing and Rhetoric and HSC 08200: Developing Health and Science Literacy.
Her work is funded by the Camden Health Initiative Grant, emphasizing qualitative methods such as interviews, textual analysis, and usability studies. Publications appear in journals like the Journal of Genetic Counseling and Rhetoric of Health and Medicine.
