Dr. Amy Finnegan is a Professor in Justice and Society Studies at the University of St. Thomas' College of Arts and Sciences. A sociologist by training, she specializes in social movements, global health equity, peacebuilding, and African studies. She co-directs SocMed, a non-profit implementing global health education in Uganda and Haiti.
Finnegan's work emphasizes service learning and medical sociology, examining how conflict and policy affect health outcomes. She previously taught at Tufts University, Boston College, and Gulu University (Uganda), bringing field experience into pedagogy.
