Amy Finnegan is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Global Health at Duke University and serves as Deputy Director of Data Science at IntraHealth International. Her work integrates digital technologies, operations research, and big data analytics to address global health challenges in HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, and infectious diseases across low- and middle-income countries.
Her research focuses on optimizing health program implementation through innovations in data science, geospatial modeling, and continuous quality improvement. Key expertise includes R programming, Power BI, and capacity-building for health professionals in resource-limited settings. Geographic focus spans Ethiopia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Kenya, Mali, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
Recent publications demonstrate methodological diversity—from contraceptive pattern analysis using Demographic and Health Surveys to impact modeling of health worker absenteeism in malaria-endemic regions. Studies consistently emphasize data-driven solutions for health system strengthening, with recurrent themes in workforce optimization, disease burden quantification, and psychosocial aspects of chronic disease management.
She leads data science initiatives at IntraHealth International, focusing on scalable digital health solutions and analytical capacity development within global health systems.
