Amy Auman

Amy Auman is a Lecturer in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, specializing in multimedia design and experiential art. Her work bridges digital and physical spaces through installations, typography, and soundscapes, emphasizing environmental awareness and narrative innovation. Previously, she taught Interaction Design at Northeastern University and freelanced in New York City.

Her research focuses on transforming mundane experiences into immersive art through tools like LED installations, sound prototypes, and analog-digital hybrids. Collaborations include See-Sign|See-Saw, a tactile sign language installation.

Recent works blend humor and critique, as seen in Year 2500’s dystopian narrative and Animal Mechanical’s sound ecology website. She advises through hands-on workshops and participatory design methods.
