Amit H Varma is the Karl H. Kettelhut Professor in Civil Engineering and Director of the Bowen Laboratory at Purdue University. He specializes in structural engineering, with a focus on advanced composite materials, seismic design, fire resistance, and infrastructure resilience. His research addresses challenges in steel-plate composite walls, concrete-filled steel tubes, and blast-resistant designs. He leads the Civil and Construction Engineering department and contributes to the CoE Safety Committee and other university initiatives.
