معرفی
Hossein Daneshvar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Engineering, specializing in resilient structural systems with emphasis on hybrid timber-steel and timber-concrete structures.
His research program focuses on:
- Design for blast and progressive collapse
- Robustness under extreme loading effects
- Performance-based seismic design of tall buildings
- Seismic performance of timber braced frames and CLT shear walls
- Timber-concrete composite and timber-steel hybrid systems
- Lateral load resisting systems for light wood frames
- Multi-hazard design for coastal infrastructure
- Sustainability and life cycle analysis
- Machine learning applications in structural engineering
Dr. Daneshvar teaches CIV E 479 (Structural Design III) covering seismic load calculation and advanced structural design, and CIV E 662 (Structural Timber Design) focusing on Canadian timber standards and engineered wood products. He actively recruits M.Sc. and Ph.D. students for his research group, with details available at his research website.
