Dr. Amira Mukendi is a Lecturer in the Department of Marketing at the University of Strathclyde's Strathclyde Business School since 2021. Her research focuses on sustainable consumption, social media influencers, and market inclusion/exclusion, with a specific emphasis on fashion and beauty contexts. She has published in prominent journals like the European Journal of Marketing and Journal of Fashion Marketing and Management, and her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to sustainable consumption and production.
Her doctoral thesis, Mainstreaming Sustainable Fashion? The Role of Sustainable Fashion Influencers (2022), was supervised by Professors Iain Davies and Anne Marie Doherty. She received the Worshipful Company of Marketors' Award in 2022, recognizing her contributions to marketing research.
Research interests include sustainable fashion consumption patterns, the role of social media influencers in driving market change, and representation in consumer markets. Her work explores how ethical and sustainable practices intersect with consumer behavior and industry dynamics, particularly in the fashion sector.
