Dr. Amber W. Childs is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine and a licensed clinical psychologist affiliated with Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital (YNHPH). She holds leadership roles in clinical innovation and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), including Director of the Getting Racism Out of our Work (GROW) Initiative and Co-Director of the Yale Measurement-Based Care Collaborative. She is the founder of M-Select, a digital youth mental health platform commercialized at BeMe Health, where she served as Chief Clinical Officer from 2023–2024.
Her research and clinical work focus on:
- Advancing measurement-based care (MBC) to improve mental health outcomes
- Reducing disparities in psychiatric treatment for youth of color and marginalized populations
- Integrating DEI and antiracism principles into clinical training and supervision
- Implementing digital and remote mental health solutions
- Improving quality and equity in psychiatric education and services
Her recent publications highlight trends in measurement-based care, telehealth implementation, DEI in psychology training, and mental health equity. Her work consistently emphasizes data-driven, person-centered approaches to transform mental health care delivery and education.

Dr. Childs is actively involved in advising and program development, having served as Director of Training for the Yale Doctoral Internship in Clinical and Community Psychology and Co-Director of the Division of Quality and Innovation at YNHPH. She contributes to multiple institutional committees, including the Yale Ventures Faculty Advisory Board, the Department of Psychiatry Antiracism Task Force, and the Executive Training Committee for Psychology Doctoral Internship.
She leads or co-leads several key initiatives:
- Getting Racism Out of our Work (GROW) Initiative: A training program to enhance multicultural competence among psychology supervisors
- Yale Measurement-Based Care Collaborative: A multidisciplinary effort to implement MBC across clinical settings
