Amanda Randall is an Associate Professor of German and Department Chair at St. Olaf College. She holds a Ph.D. in Germanic Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, an M.A. in Cultural Anthropology from Rice University, and a B.A. in International Studies from DePaul University.

Her research investigates intersections between German cultural anthropology, postwar film studies, and Lutheran refugee services. She pioneers transdisciplinary approaches analyzing flows of ideas and material culture across time and domains.
Her publications in German Studies Review and Die Unterrichtspraxis explore decolonized curricula, Heimat narratives, and disciplinary historiography. Awards include the 2021 St. Olaf Faculty Innovation Award and 2024 Melvin George Faculty Recognition Award.

She teaches courses ranging from intermediate language instruction to advanced seminars on decolonization, postwar cinema, and public intellectualism, with research supported by Fulbright, DAAD, and Universität Freiburg grants.
