Dr. Amanda Martindale is a Senior Lecturer in Sport & Performance Psychology at the University of Edinburgh's Moray House School of Education and Sport, affiliated with the Institute for Sport, Physical Education and Health Sciences (ISPEHS) and the Human Performance Science Research Group. She holds chartered psychologist status via the British Psychological Society and is a registered Sport & Exercise Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council.
Education:
- PhD (University of Edinburgh, 2011): Developing Professional Judgment and Decision Making Expertise in Applied Sport Psychology
- MSc Sport & Exercise Science (Manchester Metropolitan University, 2000)
- BSc Hons Psychology (University of St Andrews, 1995-1999)
Research focuses on accelerating professional judgment and decision-making expertise in high-stakes environments. Key areas include:
- Translating performance psychology to emergency response, healthcare, and forensics
- Enhancing decision-making in crime scene examination and organ retrieval teams
- Mindfulness interventions for workplace performance
Teaching involves the MSc Performance Psychology program and supervising PhD candidates.
