Amanda Kennedy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Curry College, where she joined in 2016. She also serves as the coordinator of the Women's and Gender Studies program.
- Ph.D. and M.A. in Sociology from Stony Brook University
- B.A. in Women’s Studies and Feminist Cultural Studies of Technoscience
Her research focuses on gender and sexuality politics in men’s rights activism, with broader interests in Gender Studies, Health and Medicine, Embodiment, and Intersectionality. At Curry, she teaches courses such as Gendered Lives, Sociology of Medicine and the Body, and Reproduction and Inequality.
Dr. Kennedy actively connects classroom learning to campus engagement, hosting filmmakers, activists, and speakers on issues like Black Lives Matter, #MeToo, and women in STEM. She supports students in research presentations and publications while advocating for diversity and accessibility initiatives.
