Amanda John is a Lecturer at the Institute of Management and Health within the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD). She serves as a SKIP Cymru© trainer for the Wales Academy for Health and Physical Literacy (WAHPL) and contributes to undergraduate Physical Education programmes and Masters-level initiatives. Her doctoral research (started 2018) focuses on the impact of SKIP Cymru©, building on her Master's degree completed at UWTSD in 2017.
Prior to academia, Amanda spent over a decade in Sports Development and Education in Pembrokeshire, teaching physical education at primary and secondary levels, and supporting schools in physical literacy development. From 2015–2017, she was seconded one day weekly to the Welsh Government’s Physical Literacy Project for Schools. She emphasizes inclusive movement experiences for children and supports teachers/coaches/parents in providing these opportunities.
Outside academia, Amanda remains active in physical pursuits, having retired from professional football with Swansea City Ladies in 2016. She now engages in gym workouts, trail running, cycling, skiing, and maritime activities.
