Amanda Gammon

Amanda Gammon is a board-certified genetic counselor affiliated with the University of Utah, serving in adjunct roles in the Population Health Sciences and Internal Medicine departments. She works at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and leads the genetic counseling clinic as Senior Manager.

• Education: MS in Genetic Counseling from University of Colorado at Denver; BA in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and English Literature from University of Colorado at Boulder.

Her research focuses on hereditary breast cancer, alternative genetic counseling models, and genetics education. She has pioneered studies on telephone-based counseling, cancer risk communication, and newborn screening for hereditary cancer syndromes.

Her recent publications highlight trends in telehealth counseling, BRCA1/2 variant interpretation, and Li-Fraumeni syndrome screening. She has contributed to over 15 peer-reviewed articles since 2007.

She has trained and supervised students in the University of Utah Genetic Counseling Program and collaborated with NIH-funded studies like BRIDGE and REACH.
